Located at the entrance to Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), on the interchange between the A29 and the A131, just off the Normandy bridge, these luminous tendrils are the work of Roger Narboni, a light designer from Bagneux (Hauts-de-Seine). The architects called on the artist to offer original lighting that enhances the landscape. They wanted a kind of land art that was out of the ordinary. Contrary to what has been announced, these lighting masts are not works of art imposed by the "1% artistic", which asks public clients to devote 1% of the cost of a construction to the order or acquisition of a work by a living artist. But these glowing tendrils were later considered highway art. Basically, their purpose was to act as lighting masts.
